Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neuro-developmental disorder. It is hidden, complex and affects all facets of daily life. It is characterized by impaired development in communication, social interaction, and behaviour. Individuals with autism struggle to cope up with the rigours of academics, social life, and emotional experience. However, early detection and intervention are known to help children acquire skills for academic learning and independent living.
The need, therefore, is to create an environment that acknowledges, accepts and appreciates the neuro-diversity -the hallmark of autism.
